Ingredients You’ll Need for this recipe:
- Active stater: ½ cup
- All-purpose flour: 3 cups
- Garlic: 1 large
- Warm water: 1 ½ cup
- Salt: 1 tablespoon
- Fresh rosemary: 1 tablespoon (chopped)
- Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
Instructions to Make Garlic Rosemary Sourdough Bread:
- Prepare a sourdough
Combine sourdough starter, all-purpose flour and warm water in a large bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are fully combined, and a dough is formed. Cover the bowl with a damp towel, and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Roast the garlic
Lay the garlic, slice off the top, drizzle it with olive oil, and then wrap the garlic in the foil. Preheat oven to 400F and roast garlic on a sheet pan for 40-45 minutes. Garlic will now be soft and ready. Let it cool down slightly before adding it to the dough.
- Add other ingredients
Once the dough is formed, add salt, roasted garlic, and chopped rosemary and mix it well with the dough until garlic and rosemary are evenly spread.
- Let it rest
After kneading for 10 minutes, cover the bowl again with the paper towel and let the dough rest for 5-7 hours until it has doubled in size.
- Bake
Preheat oven to 450 F, preheat your baking pot. Put the dough in the baking pot, and dust the dough slightly with the flour. Make long cuts around the dough with the knife, cover the baking pot and bake the dough for 20 minutes on the centre rack.
- Carefully remove the lid and bake it for additional 15-20 minutes until it turns golden brown.
- Serve
Remove the bread from the baking pot, and let it cool for at least 30 minutes. Then slice and serve it.
